Doug Clark

In 1994 my wife was expecting our first child and I gained 40+pounds during the 9 months of the pregnancy and didn’t lose it when our daughter Kaylee was born. Over the next several years my weight literally Yo Yo’d up and down as I tried several different diets and exercise programs. I think at family reunions my relatives probably wagered on which Doug would show up. My wife Jennifer as luck would have it went to work for a Diabetic clinic and finally convinced me to have an insulin resistance test. The results were frightening; Severe insulin resistant (pre diabetic cursor) and cholesterol levels so high the doctor wrote on the charts “like butter”.

The doctor prescribed medications to treat my condition and highly recommended that I lose some weight. I met with a dietician and was put on a “diet” which consisted of eating every three hours (less than 30 carbohydrates per meal) and exercising 30 minutes per day. Sounded easy but after a few months of counting carbs I fell back into my old bad habits.

In the fall of 2005 I met a new neighbor who said that he was a Certified Health Coach. He said he helped people lose weight and get healthy. I was interested and was told to consult with my doctor before starting his program. I did just that and was actually surprised at the raving endorsement from my doctor. It was actually exactly what my doctor instructed me to do in the first place except this time I didn’t have to count carbs or worry about what to eat I just had to eat one of their medically formulated meal replacements every 3 hours and one of my own meals. On January 3rd 2006 I began my journey. With the help and support of my health coach I was able to lose 40 pounds in less than 3 months and then learn a system of healthy habits to maintain a healthy weight for good. It was really nice to go to my 20 year high school reunion at the same weight as I was when I graduated.

In December of 2008 Jennifer and I became a Health Coaches because we love the program and felt like we could help people follow the program and get healthy. It has been over a year in a half since becoming a health coaches and I can honestly say that we are having a blast! Every day one of our clients calls, emails, or text us on how many pounds they have lost this week, this month, or total on the program and how easy it has been. When someone asks me why the program works I say it’s simple; it helps regulate your blood sugar and teaches you how to eat. It may not work for you but there is only one way to find out…Try it!!
